Emily B Reveals Daughter Journey is Autistic

In a deeply personal announcement coinciding with World Autism Awareness Day, Emily Bustamante, widely known as Emily B, has shared that her youngest daughter, Journey Jackson, is autistic. This revelation marks a significant step in sharing a part of her family’s life that has been kept private until now.

A Journey of Love and Visibility

Emily B, the stylist and designer and former star of “Love & Hip Hop: New York,” posted a touching message alongside family photos. She explained that while she has always loved her daughter loudly, she chose to keep this aspect of their lives private for a time, describing some journeys as “sacred.”

She revealed that her five-year-old daughter, Journey, is autistic and nonverbal. Additionally, Journey experiences sensory processing challenges and was born with PHACE syndrome, a rare congenital condition. Emily B expressed how Journey experiences the world differently and has profoundly changed her life in ways she’s still discovering.

Embracing Challenges with Love

The journey hasn’t been without its difficulties. Emily B spoke candidly about moments of fear and the need to become stronger than she ever imagined. However, she emphasized that above all, there has been immense love. She chose World Autism Awareness Day to share openly, believing that “visibility matters and so does she.”

Emily B is also launching a new organization named after her daughter, “A Special Journey.” The Instagram page for this initiative will serve as a platform to share more about Journey’s experiences and promote autism awareness.

A Family’s Strength

Emily B shares three children – Jonas, Johan, and Journey – with rapper Fabolous, and is also mother to Taina Williams from a previous relationship. Her decision to share Journey’s story highlights a growing movement among public figures to increase understanding and acceptance of neurodiversity.
