Brandy Alleges Wanya Morris Groomed Her

Brandy is making some serious claims in her newly released memoir, ‘Phases.’ The beloved singer alleges that Boyz II Men member Wanya Morris took advantage of her when they were romantically involved. The core of her accusation lies in the significant age difference at the time of their relationship.

Age Gap and Allegations of Grooming

According to Brandy, she was just 16 years old when she began dating Morris, who was reportedly in his early 20s at the time. The alleged relationship began after they collaborated on the song ‘Brokenhearted’ back in 1994. Morris has not yet publicly responded to these allegations.

In her book, Brandy describes the secrecy surrounding their relationship, writing, “Sneaking around with Wanya and lying to my parents had become a constant.” She explains that they both understood the potential scandal their relationship could cause, especially given her age, and agreed to pretend they were waiting until her 18th birthday to pursue anything romantic.

Reflecting on Warning Signs

Looking back, Brandy acknowledges these circumstances as clear indicators of something being wrong. She reflects, “These are the things that with hindsight you realize are wildly obvious signs of something wrong. Neon warning signs that I chose to ignore because I didn’t know what the hell I was doing, or what he was doing with me. Just that I was in love — or what I believed was love.”

She emphasizes the distinction between her experience and common teenage behavior, stating, “I was not a fast girl with a crush. I was not a dramatic teenager who couldn’t handle rejection. I was not an unstable obsessive fan, I was a child. And he was an adult. And it’s time the world understood the difference.”

Past Relationship Drama

This isn’t the first time Brandy has been in the headlines regarding past relationships this year. Just last month, she was involved in discussions with Shyne and Ma$e about their alleged relationships with her. Brandy denied dating Shyne, which led him to accuse her of lying.
