You might remember the headlines from Tiger Woods’ DUI arrest back in 2026. Now, more details are emerging from a newly released affidavit that shed light on what was found when deputies took him into custody. It turns out, more than just the circumstances of the crash were being investigated.
Pills Found During Search
According to the affidavit, two hydrocodone pills were discovered in Tiger Woods’ pocket during a search following his arrest in Martin County, Florida. These pills, marked M367, are a semi-synthetic opioid commonly used to manage pain. Their presence immediately raised questions, especially given the circumstances of the crash.
The crash itself occurred just after 2 p.m. Woods explained to deputies that he had been distracted by his phone and adjusting the radio when his vehicle collided with a truck’s trailer, causing his car to flip. He managed to exit through the passenger door, stating he hadn’t realized the truck had slowed down. Thankfully, no one was injured in the incident.
Signs of Impairment and Medical History
However, officers quickly noted several signs that suggested impairment. Deputy Tatiana Levenar reported that Woods was ‘sweating profusely’ and his movements were ‘lethargic and slow.’ Although he agreed to a field sobriety test, deputies observed him limping and stumbling. When questioned about his health, Woods disclosed that he had undergone over seven back surgeries and more than twenty leg operations, which explained some of the physical difficulties during the test.
Despite these challenges, Levenar noted his eyes were ‘bloodshot and glassy’ with ‘extremely dilated’ pupils. Woods denied drinking alcohol but admitted to taking prescription medication earlier that morning. Based on his performance in the coordination exercises, the deputy concluded that his ‘normal faculties were impaired,’ leading to his arrest for DUI.
Breath Test and Refusal
While a breath test later showed a 0.000 blood alcohol content, Woods refused a urine test. This refusal led to an additional charge. He was briefly taken to the Cleveland Clinic ER South, declined treatment, and was later released on bond. His court appearance was scheduled for April 23.
