Ray J Slams Tyrese’s Verzuz Performance as ‘Trash’

The latest Verzuz battle between R&B veterans Tyrese and Tank has certainly sparked conversation, and Ray J is adding his two cents – and it’s not exactly praise for Tyrese. Drawing from his own less-than-stellar Verzuz experience in 2022, Ray J didn’t hesitate to call out Tyrese’s performance, declaring Tank the undisputed winner.

Ray J’s Harsh Verdict on Tyrese

In a video shared on Instagram, Ray J didn’t hold back. “TYRESE IS TRAsh – I was trash too on [Verzuz]! – but this was worse!” he captioned his post. He elaborated in the video, stating, “Tyrese was worse than I was on Verzuz. I can just feel the turtleneck and the anxiety in his voice and in his mood… I think Tank won. And that’s before I even finish watching it.”

Ray J went on to describe Tyrese’s demeanor as filled with “anxiety and insecurity,” calling him “completely trash” and suggesting that more talented individuals from Watts should have had the opportunity instead. He even made a bold claim about Tyrese costing Dr. Dre millions, though he acknowledged his own criticisms might seem hypocritical given his past Verzuz performance.

Tyrese’s Mid-Battle Exit and Fan Reactions

Adding to the drama, Tyrese appeared to leave the Verzuz stage mid-battle, puzzling many fans before his eventual return. Despite the apparent struggles, Tyrese himself seemed confident he had won the matchup. The event also saw an argument between Tyrese and Trey Songz over a song choice.

This isn’t the first time Ray J has publicly criticized Tyrese; he previously spoke out against Tyrese’s comments regarding a Will Smith and Chris Rock joke. While Ray J is currently dealing with his own controversies, his blunt assessment of Tyrese’s Verzuz performance has certainly added fuel to the fire of post-battle discussions.
