Fans have been wondering about J. Cole’s future in music ever since he announced “The Fall-Off” as a potential final album. While the North Carolina icon initially stated it was “a double album made with intentions to be my last,” he’s now clarifying that retirement isn’t necessarily set in stone.
Setting the Record Straight on Retirement
During a recent interview with Cam’ron on “Talk With Flee!,” J. Cole addressed the confusion surrounding his career plans. He essentially stated that he’s not retiring, but he also isn’t ruling out future projects if inspiration strikes. “If that’s my last album, I’m cool. If I get inspired in a year, two years, five years, ten years to do another album, I’m not going to fight the feeling,” he explained.
Cole mentioned that recent events, particularly the rap beef involving Kendrick Lamar, have reignited his passion for music. “Because of what happened two years ago, I’m very inspired right now, because I fell back in love with this sh*t,” he shared. This renewed inspiration applies not only to albums but also to features and even beats, as he currently has many ideas brewing.
What’s Next: “It’s A Boy” and World Tour
One project that fans are still eagerly awaiting is “It’s A Boy,” an album Cole teased years ago. He reaffirmed that the project is not scrapped and will be released eventually. “We almost put it out before the album. But with the birthday blizzard tape and 24 song album we was like it’s a lot of music to process,” he stated during an “ask me anything” segment, indicating it’s on hold until fans can digest his recent releases.
Beyond music, J. Cole is gearing up for a massive 73-date world tour kicking off this summer. The tour begins in July near his hometown of Fayetteville, Charlotte, and is set to conclude on December 12 in Johannesburg, South Africa. This extensive tour suggests he’s very much active and engaged in his music career.
