Talk about a close call! Rapper Yeat recently shared a terrifying story about a car crash he experienced at just 16 years old. The wild part? He was listening to a Drake song at the time, and the accident was so severe he ended up crashing into a house. Thankfully, he survived to tell the tale.
A Near-Fatal Turn of Events
In a candid interview with Zane Lowe for Apple Music, Yeat recounted the incident. He was driving his mom’s car to drop his brother off for a football game when the accident happened. He admitted to speeding, going 90 mph in a 20 mph residential zone, thinking he knew the neighborhood well.
As he rounded a corner, Yeat realized it was a full 180-degree turn, not the 90-degree turn he expected. In a moment of panic, his food started falling, and he reached for it, still distracted. He narrowly missed a giant metal pole that would have been fatal, but his car went airborne for three seconds, through hedges, and landed right in a living room where a family was watching TV.
The Soundtrack to the Crash
So, what was playing during this near-death experience? Yeat revealed it was Drake’s 2016 collaboration with U.K. artist Dave, titled ‘Wanna Know.’ It’s a strange coincidence, especially considering Yeat has since collaborated with Drake himself on tracks like ‘IDGAF’ from Drake’s 2023 album ‘For All The Dogs.’
The rapper expressed immense gratitude for being alive, acknowledging how easily things could have ended tragically. The incident serves as a stark reminder of the dangers of distracted driving and speeding, no matter the music playing.
Thank God I’m still alive. There was a giant metal poll that I just missed by a foot. I would’ve went straight 90 into a poll and been dead for sure. — Yeat
