Spelman Students Immerse in Luxury with LVMH in Paris

Imagine stepping into the heart of the luxury world, not just as a consumer, but as a student learning the ropes. That’s exactly what 11 students from the Atlanta University Center experienced recently, thanks to an incredible partnership with LVMH! They jetted off to Paris for an exclusive immersion experience that brought their classroom learning to life.

A Parisian Masterclass in Luxury

For students enrolled in The Luxury Industry and the Art Market course, this trip was the ultimate culmination of their studies. From March 17th to 18th, 2026, LVMH rolled out the red carpet, offering these bright minds a rare, behind-the-scenes look at the inner workings of the global luxury conglomerate. It was more than just a visit; it was a deeply educational, hands-on exploration.

Cheryl Finley, the Walton Endowed Professor at Spelman College and Director of the Atlanta University Center Art History + Curatorial Studies Collective, described the experience as transformative. She told ESSENCE, “Having the opportunity to take my students to ‘the room where it happens’ transformed classroom learning into an intimate, behind-the-scenes exploration of LVMH. Through thoughtfully curated site visits, the essence of savoir-faire became tangible.”

Exclusive Access to Iconic Houses

The students weren’t just given a general tour; they were granted access to some of LVMH’s most exclusive spaces. Imagine walking through the historic residence of Louis Vuitton himself! Their itinerary also included visits to Le Bon Marché, the Givenchy Atelier, La Galerie Dior, and La Fondation Louis Vuitton. These weren’t just sightseeing stops; they were intentional experiences designed to show how legacy, storytelling, and meticulous craftsmanship define the luxury industry.

This isn’t the first time Spelman has partnered with LVMH. Earlier this year, students visited the company’s New York offices, where they met diverse teams and gained insights into the LVMH ecosystem. Nia Hipps, a Spelman Senior, shared how impactful that experience was, noting, “Meeting the diverse teams across LVMH, I came to understand just how deeply ingrained culture is within the company… That understanding was only deepened during our trip to Paris.” She added that every moment felt like a masterclass in creative enterprise.

Internships and Future Opportunities

Beyond the immersive trips, LVMH is also providing students with tangible career pathways through internship opportunities. Blair Martin, another Spelman Senior and program participant, highlighted her experience as an LVMH summer intern and her involvement in the 2027 Women@Dior & UNESCO Mentorship & Education Program, emphasizing how the course connects these valuable experiences.

Ultimately, this partnership is equipping students with more than just knowledge. As Professor Finley put it, students left with a profound understanding of the “LVMH DNA” and the confidence to see themselves as future leaders within the industry, thanks to direct engagement and exposure to career opportunities.
