OJ Da Juiceman Faces Gun Charges After Trooper Encounter

Atlanta’s own OJ Da Juiceman is in the midst of a new legal challenge, facing multiple weapons charges following an arrest on March 15th. The charges stem from a tense encounter with a Georgia State Patrol trooper on I-20 East back in late January.

Allegations of Aggressive Driving and Gun Display

According to court documents, the incident began when a vehicle reportedly started tailgating and aggressively honking at the trooper while merging into the HOV lane. The situation escalated when the trooper alleges the driver of the vehicle passed him and pointed a black handgun directly at him before speeding away. The trooper claims the same vehicle and driver pointed the firearm a second time shortly after before fleeing the scene.

Authorities identified the car as a Nissan Altima and linked it to the rapper, leading to an arrest warrant being issued in February. Prosecutors have since filed several charges, including felony aggravated assault on a public safety officer and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony. A misdemeanor charge for pointing a firearm at another person, along with reckless driving offenses, are also part of the case.

Defense Challenges the Claims

The defense is actively contesting the allegations. A sworn affidavit from an individual connected to the vehicle states that she rented the car and allowed someone else to use it, asserting that OJ Da Juiceman was not the driver at the time of the incident. Furthermore, his attorney highlighted the rapper’s strong ties to Georgia, arguing that he is not a flight risk.

A History with Law Enforcement

This isn’t the rapper’s first run-in with the law in recent years. In 2024, OJ Da Juiceman faced charges related to cocaine trafficking and gun possession, though the outcome of that case remains unclear. As this current legal battle unfolds, his significant impact on Atlanta’s trap music scene continues to be a notable part of his legacy.
