J. Cole: Kendrick Lamar’s ‘The Fall-Off’ Features Cut

In a candid conversation on Cam’ron’s ‘Talk With Flee’ show, J. Cole dropped some surprising details about his album ‘The Fall-Off,’ revealing that Kendrick Lamar was originally set to feature on two tracks. This comes in the wake of their highly publicized rap beef that unfolded in 2024.

Initial Reaction to the Diss

Cole recalled his immediate reaction to Kendrick Lamar’s diss on the track “Like That.” He admitted that his first thought was about the quality of the verse itself: “My first reaction is, ‘That sh*t is hard.’ Like, it’s a hard ass verse. Undeniably. The beat crazy, the song is ill. He went crazy.”

However, this initial admiration quickly turned to a realization of the inconvenient timing. Cole explained, “My second reaction is, ‘Not now, n***a.’ My second reaction is like, ‘No, n***a. This is inconvenient for me.’” This was particularly true as he had just finished touring with Drake and had his mixtape ‘Might Delete Later’ ready, with ‘The Fall-Off’ already completed, awaiting final mixes.

The Cut Features

Cole confirmed that Kendrick Lamar had recorded verses for two separate songs on ‘The Fall-Off.’ However, following the escalation of their public feud, Cole made the decision to revise the album. The final version of ‘The Fall-Off,’ released on February 6, 2026, features an impressive lineup including Burna Boy, Erykah Badu, Future, Morray, Petey Pablo, PJ, and Tems, but notably no Kendrick Lamar.

Current Relationship Status

Cole also opened up about his current relationship with both Kendrick Lamar and Drake. He expressed that he still holds genuine love for both artists but admitted that communication has significantly decreased. “I genuinely love these n****s, but I’m not gonna act like we’ve been communicating and talking,” Cole stated.

He acknowledged having had conversations with them post-beef but clarified that they aren’t frequent. Cole emphasized that his feelings of love remain, despite the distance and assumptions that might arise from public narratives. He even admitted to sometimes wanting to send them a text, highlighting the lingering respect and affection he has for them.
