The feud reignited on Twitter, with Mero firing the first shots, calling Akademiks a “d**krider” and a drunkard who thrives on “media gossip.” Akademiks retaliated, criticizing Mero’s performance at Hot 97 and labeling him a “DEI hire” with failing numbers. He went on to insult Mero’s talent, comparing him unfavorably to his former co-host and suggesting he was merely a “mascot.”
Akademiks continued his tirade, clowning Mero’s audience numbers, threatening to buy his “brand,” and stating he would stop “punching down” on individuals he felt he had surpassed in the media landscape. Mero Responds with Grooming Allegations
In a shocking turn, Mero escalated the conflict by bringing up past grooming allegations against DJ Akademiks. Mero responded to a fan on Twitter, stating, “I MIGHT NOT BE S**T TO YOU THATS FINE!! I KNOW IM NOT A GROOMER PEDOPHILE LIKE YOUR IDOL LIVINGTON.” He continued, questioning why people would defend someone who allegedly “talks about sex with 15 YO boys?”
Mero further alleged, “BRO IS A NET NEGATIVE TO SOCIETY WHATEVER HE SAYS ABOUT ME IS ALL HIS ALCOHOLIC IDEATION.” He directly called Akademiks a “VERIFIED PEDOPHILE” and even dared him to box Saucy Santana, offering to put up half the ticket price. This serious accusation marks a significant escalation in their public dispute.

Their conflict dates back to Mero’s time on ‘Desus & Mero,’ where they frequently criticized Akademiks, viewing him as a detrimental influence on hip-hop culture.
