The Kid Mero Claps Back at DJ Akademiks

It seems the long-standing feud between The Kid Mero and DJ Akademiks is heating up again, this time with Mero taking center stage at Hot 97’s morning show. While Mero is enjoying his new gig, it hasn’t stopped Akademiks from launching his usual barrage of criticisms, not just at Mero, but also at Hot 97 personalities Ebro Darden and Peter Rosenberg.

Akademiks’ Take on the Hot 97 Shake-Up

Akademiks recently shared his thoughts on a livestream, which was later captured and shared on Twitter. He speculated that Ebro and Rosenberg’s departures from the morning slot were due to their inability to “advance with the times” in hip-hop, suggesting they focused on picking their own stars instead of following fan trends. He also took a jab at their ratings compared to digital streaming platforms.

But Akademiks didn’t stop there. He turned his attention to Mero, labeling him a “DEI” hire and claiming he’s even worse than his predecessors in terms of ratings and talent. Akademiks predicted that Mero’s time at the station would be short-lived. Naturally, Mero wasn’t going to let that slide.

Mero’s Fiery Response

The Kid Mero took to Twitter to unleash a fierce clap back. In a series of tweets, he directly attacked Akademiks, even using a derogatory term for his perceived lack of originality and dependence on gossip. Mero wrote, “IDK HOW LIVINGSTON GOT FETAL ALCOHOL SYNDROME AS AN ADULT, YEAH DEFINITELY NOT TALKING TO NEW ARTISTS AT HOT97 NOT AT ALL.”

He continued his verbal assault, adding, “LIVI IS A D**KRIDER THAT NEEDS THIS ‘MEDIA GUY GOSSIP’ S**T TO SURVIVE. HE CANT *MAKE* ANYTHING. HE CANT HAVE AN ORIGINAL THOUGHT, F***IN FAT DORK.” Mero even included a link to his recent Hot 97 interview with xaviersobased, seemingly to highlight his actual work rather than engage in what he views as Akademiks’ petty gossip.

A Decade-Long Feud

For those unfamiliar, the beef between DJ Akademiks and Mero dates back to the “Desus & Mero” days. Back then, they often called Akademiks a negative influence on hip-hop culture. Akademiks retaliated, and the two have been trading shots sporadically ever since. This recent Hot 97 situation has clearly provided fresh fuel for their ongoing conflict.

While Akademiks suggested he wouldn’t engage in a back-and-forth with Mero this time, history suggests it’s only a matter of time before the next jab is thrown. Whether it’s provoked or a delayed response, this rivalry shows no signs of cooling down anytime soon.
