Shyne Accuses Brandy of Lying About Their Past

The R&B icon Brandy recently denied claims made by rapper Shyne about their past relationship, but Shyne isn’t backing down. In fact, he’s calling out Brandy’s response, suggesting she’s rewriting history to protect her public image.

Shyne’s Counter-Accusations

Speaking with TMZ, Shyne expressed confusion over Brandy’s denial, stating he spoke “from a place of admiration” and only recalled positive experiences. He then pivoted, questioning Brandy’s past statements, particularly her infamous Oprah interview where she apologized for falsely claiming she was married. “She has lied to the public before to protect her image,” Shyne asserted. He further speculated that Brandy might be trying to hide the fact that she was allegedly seeing both him and Mase simultaneously.

This public back-and-forth began when Shyne appeared on his former label mate Ma$e’s podcast, “It Is What It Is.” During the conversation, Cam’ron brought up the rumor that both Shyne and Ma$e had dated Brandy around the same time. While Ma$e remained somewhat vague, Shyne elaborated, sharing his excitement about dating his “dream person” and admitting he had no idea she was also involved with Ma$e.

Brandy’s Denial and Memoir Plans

Brandy’s brother, Ray J, initially issued a public “warning” to the rappers involved. This prompted Brandy herself to release a statement on social media. She unequivocally stated that she and Shyne had a “platonic friendship” in the late ’90s and that their current interactions are “mischaracterized as ‘we dated.’” She expressed frustration over the “rewriting of her story” over the decades.

Brandy also mentioned that this history of her story being reshaped is a key reason she decided to release her upcoming memoir, titled “Phases.” The book, set to hit shelves this month, promises to finally tell her story in her own words.

A Long-Standing Feud

The alleged romantic entanglement between Brandy, Shyne, and Ma$e is a chapter from the late ’90s that continues to resurface. While Brandy maintains it was a friendship, Shyne’s detailed recollections and current accusations suggest a different narrative, one he feels Brandy is now trying to obscure.
