Mark your calendars, R&B fans! Two of the genre’s most recognizable voices, Tyrese and Tank, are stepping into the ring for a Verzuz battle that promises a night of unforgettable hits. The highly anticipated showdown is set to take place on March 26th.
A Night of R&B Hits and Live Reactions
The Verzuz battle will be broadcast live from Los Angeles at 5:30 PM PT. Fans can tune in via Apple Music for the live stream and engage with real-time reactions. This matchup celebrates the impressive catalogs of both artists, who were also part of the R&B supergroup TGT (Tank, Ginuwine, Tyrese). During their time together, they delivered slow-burning hits like “I Need.”
Both Tank and Tyrese have delivered numerous hits throughout their careers, including “Sweet Lady,” “Maybe I Deserve,” “Signs of Love Making,” and “When We” for Tank, and “I Like It” and “Sweet Lady” for Tyrese. Their collaboration “I Need” as TGT also became a fan favorite.
Friendly Rivalry and Fan Debate
The origins of this R&B showdown trace back to 2022 when Tank revealed on Noreaga’s “Drink Champs” podcast that he and Tyrese often engaged in vocal challenges to determine who was superior. Tank recalled their competitive spirit, stating, “It was a run for run…Tyrese will tell you we went run for run on an EOL, ‘Elements of Life,’ video shoot.”
Tyrese verified the story on Instagram, adding a playful caveat: “Dear King Vocal let me be very very clear I don’t want NOOOOOO smoke on vocals.” However, he also expressed his competitive side regarding hits: “When it comes to HIT vs HITS…I want all the smoke but I’m still not doing a Verzus with you cause you’re my brother…So we’re clear…I have no idea why the game want us to battle but I get it…”

The debate over who will win this Verzuz battle is already heating up among fans. Team Tyrese or Team Tank? The R&B community is eagerly awaiting this “true R&B moment.” Be sure to tune in on March 26th and join the conversation after the battle concludes.
