After a tumultuous legal battle, rapper Gunplay has been cleared of charges, and he’s not holding back. In a candid interview on the ‘We In Miami’ podcast, he’s breaking his silence to detail the chaotic night that led to his arrest, claiming the public narrative was completely backward and that he was actually the one being attacked.
A Night of Alleged Chaos
Gunplay, whose real name is Richard Morales, was facing serious charges including battery with a deadly weapon, false imprisonment, and child abuse stemming from an incident with his wife, Vonshae Taylor-Morales. However, he asserts that the fight began when his wife allegedly struck him with a computer.
He described a wild scene where glass bottles were allegedly thrown at him, breaking on the wall and even hitting him. “She comes flinging them and they breaking on the wall, breaking on me. I got the pillow, I’m blocking them s***. She gets with the bottle, she throws the liquor at me, throws the bottle at me… and it gashes me on my leg,” he recounted, even showing a scar as evidence.
Family Fallout and Legal Twists
The legal proceedings have taken a significant toll on Gunplay’s family life. He revealed that he hasn’t seen his daughter since August 19, 2023, missing crucial milestones like her first steps and first words. This separation clearly weighs heavily on him, as he stated, “She took a daughter from her father purposely.”
The case also saw some bizarre twists, including his bond nearly being revoked over a text message interpreted as a threat involving a hitman. Furthermore, he detailed an alleged attempt to charge him with witness intimidation after his wife reportedly reached out to him, despite the ongoing legal issues. He pointed out that call logs showed all outgoing calls were from her, undermining the intimidation claim.
Reclaiming His Narrative and Reputation
Now that the charges have been dismissed with a ‘not guilty’ verdict, Gunplay is eager to set the record straight and repair his public image. He expressed a strong desire to return to ‘Love & Hip Hop,’ not just for financial reasons, but to actively counter the negative portrayal the show allegedly pushed for ratings.
“I would love to, so I could tell my side,” he stated. “Because that’s wrong… I beat the case, there’s no case.” Even though relationships with figures like Rick Ross reportedly soured during the allegations, Gunplay seems ready to move forward now that the truth, as he sees it, is out.
