KFC Worker Stabbed Over Gravy Dispute

A seemingly minor disagreement over a fast-food condiment took a shocking turn at a North Las Vegas KFC, resulting in a violent assault on a restaurant employee. What started as a complaint about gravy escalated into a serious crime, leading to the arrest of two individuals.

The Gravy Dispute Turns Violent

The incident occurred on the evening of December 27, 2025, when police were called to the KFC on West Craig Road. Employees reported that a customer had attacked a worker. According to North Las Vegas police Lt. S.T. Brandon, surveillance footage showed two men, identified as James Carter, 48, and Gerald Carter, 32, entering a restricted area behind the counter before the alleged attack.

Investigators state that the dispute began when Gerald Carter repeatedly complained about the amount of gravy on his order and confronted the employees. The surveillance footage reportedly shows Gerald Carter stabbing the employee multiple times, while James Carter allegedly held the worker in a chokehold. The two suspects fled the scene before officers arrived but were apprehended nearby.

Suspects Arrested, Conflicting Accounts Emerge

Upon their detention, officers found a large folding knife in Gerald Carter’s pocket, according to police reports. The injured KFC employee was transported to University Medical Center for treatment, though their current condition has not been released. Both suspects have been booked into the Clark County Detention Center.

However, Gerald Carter has provided a different account of the events. He claims he did not remove his knife from his pocket during the altercation and refutes the idea that the argument was solely about gravy. Gerald alleges that the KFC employee was verbally aggressive, calling him names and disrespecting him before the physical confrontation.

Legal Proceedings and Bail

James Carter’s bail was set at $10,000, while Gerald Carter’s bail was set at $100,000. Both are awaiting further proceedings in the North Las Vegas Justice Court. This incident highlights the potential for everyday disputes to escalate into serious criminal matters.
