A tragic incident unfolded in Stockton, California, where a children’s birthday party became the scene of a devastating mass shooting. Authorities believe rapper MBNel was the intended target of the attack, which tragically resulted in the deaths of three children and one adult, with 11 others sustaining injuries.
A Targeted Act of Violence
The Sheriff’s Office has described the shooting as a “targeted act.” Investigators suspect that the gunmen specifically aimed to harm both MBNel and fellow artist Fly Boy Doughy, who was also present at the gathering. As of now, no arrests have been made in connection with the shooting.
Stockton Mayor Christina Fugazi condemned the violence, labeling it an “act of terrorism” and attributing it to gang violence, though she did not specify any particular affiliations. She urged anyone with information to come forward, and the FBI is offering a reward of up to $50,000 for information leading to an arrest.
MBNel’s Father Speaks Out
MBNel’s father, Junior Dongon, shared details of the harrowing event, explaining that his son had only gone to the party to drop off a present for a friend’s daughter. “He was shot, but he is OK,” Dongon stated, adding that MBNel had asked him not to disclose the incident initially. Dongon also expressed concern for other family members who were injured, including his daughter-in-law.
Recent Music Releases
This incident comes shortly after MBNel released his latest album, “EPOCH,” in April, and his new single, “G-CODE,” featuring THUGSTA, dropped just the day before the shooting.
