Despite facing an eviction lawsuit and a recent arrest, former ‘Real Housewives of Potomac’ star Mia Thornton is choosing to focus on her strength and personal growth. On her 41st birthday, November 25, Thornton took to Instagram to share a message of resilience, declaring she feels “refined” and “unshakeable.”
A Birthday Message of Strength
In a striking black-and-white portrait, Thornton, adorned with a dramatic mink and pearls, captioned her birthday post: “Refined. Unmoved. Unshakeable. I don’t break — I become better. Happy Birthday to me.” She further elaborated on her mindset, stating, “In the midst of unexpected moments, I’m remembering who I am: a mother, a creator, a woman evolving in real time. I’m choosing peace, accountability, and personal growth. Thank you to those who continue to support my journey. Forever, MIAMOR.”
In subsequent posts, she continued to emphasize her resilience, comparing herself to a ballet dancer standing “en pointe — balanced, resilient, and blessed,” and confidently stating her choice for “alignment, elevation, and elegance.”
The Legal Troubles Unpacked
Thornton’s defiant message comes amidst significant legal challenges. An eviction lawsuit was initiated by Encore Management on September 11, alleging that Thornton and an ex-boyfriend failed to pay $5,100 in September rent for a luxury Atlanta condo, accumulating over $6,000 in additional unpaid charges monthly thereafter.
The situation reportedly escalated on October 28 when Thornton allegedly vacated the condo without notice, leaving in the middle of the night. Subsequently, on November 6, the property owner filed a complaint alleging that approximately $11,000 worth of furnishings, including a TV and other items provided with the unit, were missing.
Arrest and Bodycam Footage
Thornton was reportedly detained at Hartsfield-Jackson Airport on November 19 after Customs officials flagged an active warrant related to the case. Bodycam footage released the same day captured her arrest, showing her being placed in handcuffs and transported to Fulton County Jail. She appeared calm during the arrest, admitting she was aware of the warrant.
Atlanta police launched an investigation after the property owner’s friend reported that Thornton had abruptly left the furnished residence and taken several items. This legal turmoil unfolds as Thornton navigates a new chapter in Atlanta after her departure from ‘RHOP’ earlier this year, and following her public relationship with singer Bobby V.
Castmates Weigh In
During the November 24 episode of their podcast ‘Reasonably Shady,’ former castmates Robyn Dixon and Gizelle Bryant discussed Thornton’s legal issues. Dixon expressed little sympathy, questioning the $11,000 in alleged furniture theft and suggesting Thornton could have sought financial help. Bryant, however, showed more compassion, expressing confusion about the situation but acknowledging the seriousness of stealing furniture.
The podcast hosts debated whether hardship excuses poor choices, with Dixon stating, “She decided to commit a crime, and now you’re feeling sorry for her? I don’t.” Bryant elaborated on her empathy, citing Thornton’s divorce, business loss, and relationship changes as factors contributing to her current struggles, suggesting she might be “searching for something.”
