Grief is a deeply personal journey, and sometimes sharing those raw emotions publicly can lead to unexpected reactions. Masika Kalysha, known for her time on ‘Love & Hip Hop,’ recently shared poignant photos from her late husband Jamar Champ’s funeral, but the move has drawn criticism from some fans who found the act inappropriate.
Sharing Grief, Facing Criticism
Nearly a month after Jamar Champ tragically passed away in a car crash, Masika took to Instagram to post images from the funeral ceremony. In her heartfelt caption, she described grief as a “deafening” and “broken heart” experience, expressing gratitude for the support she’s received. The photos featured Masika and her daughters visibly upset and crying during the service.
However, not everyone appreciated the public display. Some commenters labeled the post “weird” and questioned the decision to share such intimate moments, particularly involving her children. One user wrote, “Why would you put your baby’s out there like this? They are grieving.” This criticism clearly struck a nerve with Kalysha.
Kalysha’s Fiery Response
In a strong response posted to her Instagram Story, Masika made it clear she has no intention of justifying her actions or explaining her grieving process to anyone. She directly addressed her critics, stating, “If you have a problem with ANYTHING I post on MY PAGE involving MY HUSBAND, MY LIFE, MY KIDS, or literally anything I invite you to go fk yourself and unfollow me.” She emphatically declared, “I will NOT be explaining myself in any way shape, form or fashion to a single SOUL.”
While shutting down the negativity, Kalysha also extended her gratitude to those who have offered genuine support. “To everyone who has supported me and my kids.. I can’t thank you enough. You have carried me on your backs,” she wrote, urging them to continue checking in on her family.
The Tragic Loss
Jamar Champ, 38, tragically died after the Tesla Cybertruck he was driving was struck head-on by a speeding BMW traveling the wrong way on the Katy Freeway in Houston. Despite being rushed to the hospital, Champ succumbed to his injuries. Masika and Jamar, who married in 2021, had faced marital challenges earlier in the year, including separation and mediation, but her public message indicates their bond remained strong.
