Kandi Burruss is finally speaking out about her divorce from Todd Tucker, confirming that the split has been a long time coming and is taking a significant emotional toll. The reality star and entrepreneur shared her feelings during a recent appearance, offering a glimpse into the difficult chapter she’s navigating.

Navigating a Difficult Emotional Chapter

During an Amazon Live session, just days after publicly confirming her divorce filing, Burruss admitted, “I am up and down.” She described the experience of going through a divorce as “definitely not the easiest thing,” noting that while she can sometimes feel okay, other times she succumbs to moments of sadness. As a Taurus, she prefers to keep these more vulnerable moments private.

While years on reality television have accustomed viewers to seeing her emotions on full display, Burruss stated her intention to handle this personal chapter more privately. “In real life, my everyday life, I don’t like for those moments to be shared with the world,” she explained, though she chose to share with her “Amazon family.”

A Decision ‘Brewing For A While’

Contrary to any perception that the divorce filing was sudden, Burruss emphasized that the end of her 11-year marriage was not a rash decision. “Yes, I filed Friday, but this has been brewing for a long time,” she revealed. She added, “So all the times you’ve been seeing me online [all smiles] means nothing. I’ve been going through it, chile. I’ve been going through it. Life has been life-ing me.”

Burruss previously told PEOPLE that the decision came after “deep thought and a lot of prayer.” Her focus remains on “protecting my peace, being the best mother I can be, and co-parenting with love and respect.” She is looking forward to “stepping into a new chapter pouring into my work, my family, and my own growth,” and has requested “privacy, grace, and understanding” during this adjustment period.

Despite the announcement of their split, Kandi and Todd presented a united front for their daughter, Blaze Tucker. The estranged couple celebrated Blaze’s birthday with a Snow White-themed party, ensuring their daughter felt like a “real-life princess.”
