RHOP’s Wendy & Eddie Osefo Face New Fraud Allegations

New details are emerging in the fraud case involving ‘Real Housewives of Potomac’ star Dr. Wendy Osefo and her husband, Eddie Osefo. Maryland prosecutors are pushing to obtain more financial records, alleging the couple used numerous aliases and credit cards in an elaborate scheme to obscure their identities and financial activities.

Allegations of Aliases and Extensive Credit Card Use

According to new court filings, prosecutors claim the Osefos possess around 40 credit and/or debit cards. Some of these are reportedly linked to business names, while others are allegedly tied to pseudonyms like “Pam Oliver” and “Eddie Hennessy.” Prosecutors argue these alleged aliases and corporate accounts were a “deliberate attempt to mask their identity.”

The state is seeking broader financial documentation, believing it will reveal a “pattern of excessive spending” that supports the motive behind the alleged fraud. Insurance fraud, being a financial crime, makes the total debt owed by the couple, both individually and through their businesses, highly relevant to the case, according to the prosecutors.

Defense Calls Probe a ‘Fishing Expedition’

Attorneys for Wendy and Eddie Osefo have strongly contested the prosecutors’ claims, labeling the investigation a “fishing expedition.” Eddie Osefo’s lawyer, Joseph Murtha, stated that prosecutors seem to be searching for evidence they haven’t found after 18 months of investigation.

In a statement released by their legal team, the Osefos accused investigators of bias and a lack of proper diligence, particularly concerning an initial burglary investigation. They also claimed investigators were unresponsive for over a year and subjected them to scrutiny not applied to other public figures. The couple has been charged with 16 counts, seven of which are felonies.

Osefos Deny Alias Allegations

Regarding the use of aliases, the Osefos’ statement firmly denies these allegations. They assert that they have “never used an alias on any financial application” and that the names mentioned were solely for package delivery to protect their privacy as public figures. They also criticized the public release of their financial information as unjust and serving no lawful purpose.

The couple is scheduled to return to court on December 2nd. This case continues to unfold, with prosecutors seeking more financial evidence and the defense maintaining their clients’ innocence.
