It’s been a challenging few months, but it looks like Lil Nas X is on the upswing! The Grammy-winning artist, whose real name is Montero Hill, recently made his first court appearance since entering an inpatient treatment program, and the update is incredibly positive.

A Smiling Face in Court

On Monday, November 17th, the 26-year-old star appeared in court looking happy and healthy. According to Rolling Stone, the judge handled the transfer of discovery materials for his case. This hearing was particularly significant as it marked his first in-person appearance since his August 21st arrest and subsequent departure for treatment.

His attorney, Drew Findling, shared encouraging words with reporters after the hearing. “As you can see, Montero is doing amazing, doing great, and we’re super happy for him,” Findling stated, expressing confidence in a positive outcome for the case.

Prioritizing Mental Well-being

This appearance comes after Lil Nas X missed a previous court date in September because he was undergoing inpatient treatment out of state. His legal team emphasized at the time that his priority was his mental health, especially following his August arrest for an alleged altercation with a police officer during a traffic stop.

While initial reports suggested an overdose due to his behavior, his team clarified he was sober and experiencing a mental health episode. He was released on $75,000 bail and subsequently entered the treatment program, with his lawyers stressing its importance for his stability.

Charges and Future Steps

Lil Nas X faces charges including three counts of battery with injury to a police officer and one count of resisting an executive officer, to which he has pleaded not guilty. His legal team continues to focus on his well-being, with Findling noting, “He is surrounded by an amazing family, an amazing team of people that care about him and love him.”
