Ryan Coogler Confirms ‘Black Panther 3’ is Next

Great news for Marvel fans! Director Ryan Coogler has officially confirmed that ‘Black Panther 3’ is happening and is his next major project. The two-time Oscar nominee shared the exciting update while participating in a panel in Los Angeles on Saturday, November 15th, letting fans know he’s hard at work completing the Marvel trilogy.

A Tease and a Confirmation

When asked directly about the highly anticipated sequel, Coogler playfully teased, ‘If it was anybody but you, I would say, ‘I can neither confirm or deny.’’ However, he quickly followed up with a definitive statement: ‘But we’re working on it hard. Yeah, it’s the next movie.’

This confirmation comes after months of speculation swirling around the franchise. Adding fuel to the fire was a comment made by Denzel Washington in November 2024. While promoting ‘Gladiator II’ in Australia, Washington revealed he was being considered for a role in the new ‘Black Panther’ film, mentioning that Coogler was ‘writing a part for me.’ Coogler has reportedly backed up this claim, according to Deadline.

Honoring Chadwick Boseman’s Legacy

The ‘Black Panther’ franchise holds a special place in cinematic history, largely thanks to the incredible performance of Chadwick Boseman as T’Challa. Boseman first graced the screen as the character in 2016’s ‘Captain America: Civil War,’ followed by the groundbreaking ‘Black Panther’ in 2018. He reprised his iconic role in ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ and ‘Avengers: Endgame.’

Following Boseman’s tragic passing from colon cancer in August 2020, Marvel Studios and Coogler moved forward with ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’ in 2022. This sequel beautifully honored his memory, focusing on the kingdom mourning T’Challa and introducing Letitia Wright’s Shuri as the new Black Panther.

A New Chapter Begins

With Coogler’s confirmation of a third installment and the potential addition of a powerhouse like Denzel Washington to the cast, fans are eagerly anticipating what this new chapter will bring. It’s clear that the legacy Chadwick Boseman helped build will continue to inspire and captivate audiences worldwide.
