Fans have been eager to see Drake grace the Rolling Loud stage, but it seems the festival organizers are facing an uphill battle. According to Tariq Cherif, a co-founder of Rolling Loud, the superstar rapper has repeatedly turned down lucrative offers to headline the popular hip-hop festival, year after year.
Millions Offered, Millions Declined
During a conversation with Adin Ross and DJ Akademiks, Cherif revealed the extent of their efforts. “We send him a max offer… millions of dollars,” he stated, as reported by No Jumper. The discussion took place during Playboi Carti’s tour stop in Sunrise, Florida. Even offers that would make him the headliner for three days, similar to deals for the Wireless festival, were allegedly presented and rejected.
In a separate interview with Big Boy, Cherif expressed his belief that Drake is intentionally avoiding the festival. “I got no beef with Drake… like Drake, I feel like he’s a great artist. We’ve been trying to book him forever,” Cherif explained, adding, “I’ll say it, I don’t care. I feel like Drake’s ducking us.”
A Major Festival’s Wishlist Artist
Rolling Loud, which debuted in Miami in 2015, has become a premier destination for hip-hop fans worldwide. Booking an artist of Drake’s caliber would undoubtedly be a massive coup for any festival. Despite the rapper’s busy schedule, which often includes non-music related ventures, Cherif believes Drake prioritizes business ventures that matter most to him, and Rolling Loud apparently doesn’t make the cut.
The timing of these alleged rejections is interesting, especially with rumors of Drake’s next solo album, ‘ICEMAN,’ potentially arriving by the end of 2025. While the album’s release has faced delays, securing Drake as a headliner could have provided a significant promotional boost. Rolling Loud is also set to return to Australia in March, its first time back since 2019.
The Mystery Behind the Rejection
While the exact reasons for Drake’s alleged refusal remain unclear, the consistent offers and rejections highlight a peculiar dynamic between the artist and the festival. Whether it’s a strategic business decision, a personal preference, or something else entirely, Drake’s absence from the Rolling Loud lineup continues to be a topic of discussion among fans and industry insiders.
We even offered Drake three nights of Drake… he’d be the headliner for three nights. — Tariq Cherif (Rolling Loud Co-Founder)
As Drake continues to dominate the music charts and navigate various aspects of his career, his decision to bypass such a significant platform like Rolling Loud remains a curious one. Fans can only hope that one day, the superstar will take the stage at the festival that so eagerly awaits him.
