Fetty Wap Gets Early Prison Release

Great news for fans of the “Trap Queen” hitmaker! Fetty Wap, whose real name is Willie Maxwell II, has secured an earlier release from prison, meaning he’ll be home in time for the 2026 holiday season. This is a welcome update for the beloved artist who has been serving time for drug trafficking charges.

A Holiday Homecoming

Originally slated for release in March 2027, Fetty Wap’s release date has been moved up multiple times. Most recently, his expected departure from FCI Sandstone, a low-security facility in Minnesota, was advanced to January 8, 2027. Now, according to Us Weekly, authorities have shaved off another month, setting his new release date for December 8, 2026.

This means the New Jersey native will be able to spend the festive holiday season with his family and loved ones, a significant improvement from his previous timeline. While fans had hoped for an even sooner release, this is undoubtedly a positive step.

Advocacy for Early Release

Fetty Wap’s family, particularly his sister Divinity Maxwell-Butts, has been actively advocating for his release. Back in April, she took to Instagram, highlighting his accountability and the fact that he had served over half of his sentence for a non-violent offense. She passionately argued for a commutation, stating, “His sentence should be commuted so he can come home to his family, his children, and his purpose.”

Fans have also rallied behind Fetty Wap, with his prison photos often sparking renewed calls for his freedom. While updates have been scarce, these images serve as a reminder of the artist his supporters miss dearly.

Looking Ahead: Supervised Release

Upon his release on December 8, 2026, the 34-year-old rapper will still have five years of supervised release to complete. This period will involve regular check-ins and adherence to specific conditions as he reintegrates into society.

Despite the challenges he’s faced, this early release date offers a glimmer of hope and a chance for Fetty Wap to reconnect with his career and family. It’s a blessing that fans and loved ones can certainly appreciate.
