WNBA icon Candace Parker is stepping into a new leadership role, joining the Pro Athlete Community (PAC) as Co-Chair of its Board of Advisors. This move signifies a significant step for PAC, as Parker becomes the organization’s first woman to hold this position, joining NFL stars Devin and Jason McCourty.
Redefining Life After Sports
Parker expressed her excitement about joining PAC, stating, ‘For many professional athletes, retirement marks the start of a brand-new chapter—one that can be full of opportunity, growth, and reinvention.’ She believes PAC is ‘truly transformational for athletes’ and is proud to be part of a movement that’s redefining post-sports careers.
Her new role will focus on advancing PAC’s mission to provide athletes with robust opportunities beyond their playing careers. This includes access to top-tier education, business ventures, and mentorship, aiming to help them build fulfilling lives and careers after sports.
Championing Women Athletes
A key aspect of Parker’s involvement will be her direct contribution to increasing access and ensuring equal representation for women athletes within PAC’s network. She plans to work closely with PAC Co-Founders Chip Paucek and Kaleb Thornhill to support the growth of women’s sports and amplify opportunities for female athletes.
Chip Paucek, Co-Founder and CEO of PAC, highlighted the significance of Parker’s involvement: ‘To have someone of Candace’s caliber – as a person and former athlete – take a leadership position in PAC speaks volumes.’ He looks forward to her contributions in expanding the organization’s network and impact.
A Community for Athletes
The Pro Athlete Community (PAC) is a unique organization built exclusively for professional athletes navigating life after their playing days. With a collective of over 1,600 athletes, PAC provides a supportive network designed to foster growth, opportunity, and purpose beyond the arena.
