Chrishell Stause Exits Selling Sunset After 9 Seasons

After nine seasons of navigating the glitz, glamour, and drama of the Los Angeles real estate world, Chrishell Stause is officially hanging up her designer heels from Selling Sunset. The beloved reality star has decided to step away from the hit Netflix series, prioritizing her mental well-being above all else.

A Difficult Decision for Her Well-being

In a candid interview with Bustle, the 44-year-old actress-turned-real-estate powerhouse revealed the emotional struggle behind her decision. “I’ve vacillated back and forth with this decision in the past,” she admitted. While the show has offered incredible opportunities, Stause has reached a point where her health comes first.

She explained that she’s fortunate enough to no longer be financially dependent on the show, which has allowed her to make this tough call. “I’ve gotten to a place where I don’t need the show financially,” she stated. “I’m lucky to have other forms of employment because it’s no longer good for my mental health.”

Wishing Her Costars the Best

Stause, who joined Selling Sunset back in 2019, expressed her well wishes for her castmates should the series continue without her. “If they do continue, I wish them the best,” she told Bustle. She acknowledged the show’s significant impact on her career, stating, “It’s given me so many opportunities.”

Despite leaving, she’s determined not to harbor any bitterness. “I don’t want to be bitter about it even though I’m leaving not in the way that I would’ve loved,” she added. On Instagram, she shared her gratitude with fans, reflecting on the show that introduced her, even if the final season ended on a “sour note.”

Season 9’s On-Screen Tensions

Her departure comes at a time when Season 9 has been marked by considerable on- and off-screen friction. Viewers have voiced criticism regarding perceived microaggressions directed at Black cast members like Chelsea Lazkani and Amanza Smith. The incident involving Mary Bonnet dismissing flowers sent by Lazkani after her miscarriage also drew significant backlash for being insensitive.

Stause herself experienced clashes with several castmates throughout the season, describing the reunion special as particularly “brutal.” It was during this intense reunion that she made her final decision. “In that moment, I realized I will be done here going forward,” she confessed.

While Selling Sunset fans will undoubtedly miss Chrishell Stause’s presence, her decision to prioritize her mental health is a powerful statement. We wish her all the best in her future endeavors, both in real estate and beyond!
