In a significant development, A$AP Relli has decided to drop his assault case against fellow artist A$AP Rocky. While the criminal trial resulted in Rocky’s acquittal, Relli had been pursuing his own civil lawsuit. However, he is now choosing to move forward by focusing on a separate defamation case instead.
Focusing on Rebuilding Life After Ordeal
According to Billboard, Relli’s attorney, Aaron Morris, stated that his client is “ready to simply move on from the shooting” and is “focusing on rebuilding his life.” The ordeal, stemming from Relli’s accusation that Rocky shot him during a 2021 altercation, has reportedly been a “nightmare” for him.
Morris explained that the public accusations labeling Relli a “liar” and worse effectively hindered his chances of a career in the music industry. Therefore, while abandoning the assault case, Relli is still committed to pursuing a defamation lawsuit against both A$AP Rocky and his lawyer, Joe Tacopina.
Defamation Lawsuit Continues
The defamation action stems from claims made by Rocky and Tacopina during the assault trial, where they reportedly accused Relli of “extortion” and described his case as a “get-rich-quick-scheme.” Relli intends to litigate this aspect of the case to address the damages caused by these statements.
“He’s going to litigate the defamation action because of the damages it caused, but as to the shooting, he’s thankful he wasn’t hurt worse and is focusing on rebuilding his life,” Morris added. This means the legal back-and-forth between Relli and Rocky, at least concerning the alleged accusations, is not entirely over.
A$AP Rocky’s Music and Family Life
Meanwhile, A$AP Rocky continues to navigate his music career and personal life. He is reportedly still working on his highly anticipated fourth studio album, “Don’t Be Dumb,” which has seen several delays. The album was initially slated for an August 2024 release but remains without a concrete release date.
In September, Rocky and his partner Rihanna welcomed their third child together, adding to their growing family. Despite the ongoing legal matters and music production, Rocky seems to be balancing his professional and personal commitments.
