Scarlet by RedDrop: Puberty Care Hits Ulta & $14M

Imagine being a young girl, navigating the confusing world of puberty, and feeling like you’re dying just because your period started. That’s exactly the kind of fear and misinformation co-founders Dana Roberts and Monica Williams set out to combat. Their brand, Scarlet by RedDrop, is making waves by providing essential puberty and period care products specifically for teens and tweens, and guess what? They’ve just landed at Ulta Beauty and hit an incredible $14 million in total revenue!

From Classroom Insight to a Thriving Business

It all began with Roberts’ experience as a fifth-grade teacher in Atlanta. She was approached by a student who was terrified, believing she was dying when her period began. This deeply impactful moment sparked the initial idea for RedDrop, which later evolved into the more comprehensive brand, Scarlet by RedDrop, in 2025. Partnering with physician Monica Williams, they aimed to fill a critical gap in puberty education and care for young girls.

Their product line is thoughtfully designed, offering everything from pads and tampons to comprehensive period kits. These kits include pads in various sizes and even a helpful diary filled with tips and information to demystify puberty. As Williams explained, the rebrand from RedDrop to Scarlet by RedDrop signifies their growth and the expansion of their educational period-care products, supporting young individuals through every stage of their journey.

Major Milestones and Powerful Backing

The momentum for Scarlet by RedDrop is undeniable. The brand has recently expanded its reach by becoming available in over 350 Ulta stores and online at ulta.com. This significant retail partnership is a huge win for accessible period care for young people.

Adding to their impressive achievements, Scarlet by RedDrop secured $1 million in backing from Pharrell Williams’ nonprofit, Black Ambition, in 2024. This investment highlights the brand’s potential and the importance of supporting underrepresented founders in the business world.

Impressive Growth and Industry Recognition

The numbers speak for themselves: Scarlet by RedDrop has achieved a remarkable 91% year-over-year growth in 2025, contributing to a total of $14 million in lifetime revenue. Their impact reaches over 1 million teens and tweens since their launch, proving the demand for their specialized products.

Their success hasn’t gone unnoticed. The brand was recognized by Pepperdine University Graziadio Business School as one of its 2025 Most Fundable Companies. Williams noted that this recognition validates their mission to build an inclusive, girl-centered brand that is also a high-growth, high-impact business.

Celebrating Underrepresented Founders

Further cementing their status, Scarlet by RedDrop was honored as the “Best Underrepresented-Founded Startup” at the 2025 Atlanta Startup Awards. Roberts shared her pride, emphasizing the challenges faced by women of color in securing venture capital funding, with only 0.3% of funding going to them last year. This award is a testament to their hard work and the undeniable results they deliver.
