Cam’ron Stays Silent on J. Cole Lawsuit

Last week, news broke that Cam’ron had filed a lawsuit against fellow rapper J. Cole, seeking at least $500,000 in alleged unpaid royalties for their collaboration, “Ready ’24.” The track appeared on Cole’s surprise album, “Might Delete Later.” However, Cam’ron is currently refusing to discuss the details of the legal battle.

The Allegations Behind the Lawsuit

According to the lawsuit, the collaboration began in December 2021 when J. Cole allegedly asked Cam’ron to feature on a song for an upcoming project. Cam’ron reportedly agreed, but only under specific conditions: he would receive proper credit, have control over the final version, and Cole would agree to a future collaboration, either on a song or his podcast, “It Is What It Is.”

The song “Ready ’24” was recorded the following year. Cam’ron allegedly made it clear he wouldn’t authorize its release until Cole fulfilled his end of the agreement. However, the lawsuit claims that two years later, with Cole having allegedly refused to collaborate further, “Defendants nevertheless released [‘Ready ’24’]… on the album Might Delete Later.”

Cam’ron Stays Tight-Lipped

Naturally, fans have a multitude of questions about this unexpected lawsuit. However, Cam’ron seems intent on keeping the specifics private. In a preview for a new episode of the “Talk With Flee” podcast, shared by REVOLT on Instagram, host Sen City directly questioned Cam about the lawsuit.

“You suing J. Cole? Because I got questions about that,” Sen City asked. Cam’ron initially kept his lips sealed. When pressed further about Cole’s status as a rap legend and whether he’d consider letting bygones be bygones, Cam finally offered a brief comment.

I think J. Cole definitely gonna be a rap legend. 100 percent. Definite. But he don’t get a pass. — Cam’ron

While Cam’ron acknowledged Cole’s legendary status, his final statement suggests he feels the agreement was not honored and he is pursuing the lawsuit for a reason. The legal proceedings are expected to continue, but Cam’ron’s reluctance to elaborate leaves many details for the courts to sort out.
