Get ready, because Taraji P. Henson is absolutely crushing it with her career right now! Fresh off the heels of some major announcements, the incredibly talented Oscar nominee is diving into yet another exciting project. This time, she’s set to star in a brand-new series adaptation of 50 Cent’s recently released novel, “The Accomplice,” for Peacock. How cool is that?
A Fearless Texas Ranger on the Hunt
In this thrilling adaptation, Taraji will bring Nia Adams to life. Nia is a fearless Texas Ranger on a mission to track down Desmond Bell, a master thief with his sights set on one of America’s wealthiest families. But as any good thriller fan knows, things are never that simple.
As Nia gets closer to her target, she’ll uncover a massive conspiracy that shakes her to her core. She’ll start questioning everything she thought she knew about the very system she’s sworn to protect. It sounds like a role that will let Taraji showcase her incredible range!
Taraji’s Packed Schedule
This new role comes at a time when Taraji is clearly in high demand. Just last month, she inked a fantastic two-picture deal with Netflix. Plus, she’s also developing projects with Fox Entertainment Studios, thanks to a first-look deal for both scripted and unscripted content where she might even star.
And if that wasn’t enough, she’s also joining the cast of Tyler Perry’s “Why Did I Get Married Again?” This marks her fifth film collaboration with the prolific director and producer. It’s safe to say Taraji is staying booked and busy!
A Playful History with 50 Cent
Interestingly, this project adds another layer to the playful history between Taraji and 50 Cent. Remember when they used to playfully spar over their hit shows, “Empire” and “Power”? Back in 2015, 50 Cent even joked about “Empire” using “Power’s” marketing playbook, to which Taraji famously quipped about paying attention to “$’s, NOT cents?”
They continued their social media banter over the years, even when “Empire” faced rating discussions. It’s great to see them now collaborating on a project, turning past playful jabs into a professional partnership.
What’s Next for 50 Cent?
For 50 Cent, this adaptation comes as his Starz series “BMF” wraps up after a successful four-season run. While he’s been busy with his own ventures, it’s clear he’s also keen on expanding his literary work into the television space. We can’t wait to see how “The Accomplice” translates to the screen!
