Hip Hop Takes Over the Seas: Rock The Bells Cruise 2025

Get ready to set sail on a wave of nostalgia and pure hip hop energy! The 2025 Rock the Bells Cruise just wrapped up its third incredible year, transforming the Norwegian Jewel into a floating celebration of the genre’s rich history and vibrant culture. Created by the legendary LL COOL J, this 4-night voyage brought together hip hop royalty for an unforgettable family reunion at sea.

A Hip Hop Family Reunion

More than just a series of performances, the Rock the Bells Cruise fosters a unique sense of community. Attendees experienced everything from electrifying sets by genre pioneers to intimate panels, hip hop-themed games, and casual meet-and-greets. The real magic, however, was the palpable camaraderie among artists who rarely get to connect like this.

DJ Jazzy Jeff perfectly captured the vibe, telling ESSENCE, “Moments to just break bread and have a good time with our peers. That is what this is. You are stuck in the middle of the ocean with a bunch of friends and family. It’s beautiful.” From Da Brat and Mia X sharing moments of admiration to Mannie Fresh creating impromptu studio sessions, the love and respect were undeniable.

Legends Take the Stage

The cruise kicked off with a bang thanks to New Orleans’ own Juvenile, who delivered a memorable performance fresh off his viral Verzuz battle. Backed by his longtime friend and DJ, Mannie Fresh, and the 400 Degreez Band, they dropped hit after hit. Mannie Fresh, the life of the party, shared his passion for music, stating, “It just comes naturally for me. And, I love my job.”

The energy continued with sets from Lupe Fiasco and Xzibit, while DJs like DJ Paul and DJ Money kept the vibes high by the pool. Inspirational talks were also a highlight, with MC Lyte and MC Sha Rock leading a panel that celebrated their pioneering roles in hip hop. “Just being in a setting like this is different from anything I’ve experienced out in the world,” MC Lyte shared, emphasizing the unique atmosphere of the cruise.

Island Vibes and All-Star Closers

Day three saw the ship dock in Bimini, Bahamas, offering attendees a chance to enjoy the sun, dance by the pool, and even chat with artists on the beach. Back onboard, the unofficial ladies’ night featured powerhouse performances from Da Brat and MC Lyte, followed by the electrifying headliners, The Lox. Jadakiss, Styles P, and Sheek Louch proved they still command the stage with their timeless hits and mixtape cuts.

The final day was just as packed, featuring a wine tasting, a live podcast taping, a comedy show, and a Halloween costume party hosted by DJ Chuck Chillout. Performances by Little Brother and Dogg Pound, along with incredible DJ sets from Mannie Fresh and DJ Jazzy Jeff, capped off the experience. Mia X also received a warm reception, reminding everyone of her enduring impact on the game.

Looking Ahead to 2026

The 2025 Rock the Bells Cruise was a resounding success, filled with laughter, love, and a deep appreciation for hip hop culture. The brand is already planning for an extended 2026 installation, taking place November 1-6, to meet the growing demand for this special event that truly honors the genre and its pioneers.
