50 Cent Mocks ‘BMF’ Cancellation

Well, it looks like the streets of Atlanta won’t be gracing our screens for much longer. Starz has officially pulled the plug on the popular crime drama ‘BMF’ after four seasons. The season four finale, titled “Dreams Deferred,” will now serve as the series’ final episode, leaving many storylines unresolved.

Why the Cancellation?

While fans might be disappointed, the decision reportedly stems from cost-cutting measures at Starz. Network CEO Jeffrey Hirsch mentioned in March 2024 that shows tend to become more expensive after their initial seasons, a common practice known as the Cost Product model. This often leads to beloved series being canceled, even without a proper send-off.

The series, which chronicled the rise and fall of the notorious Black Mafia Family, starred Demetrius Flenory Jr. as Big Meech and Da’Vinci as his brother Terry “Southwest T” Flenory. The cast also included Russell Hornsby, Michole Briana White, La La Anthony, Steve Harris, and Myles Truitt.

50 Cent’s Reaction: A Classic Troll

As expected, executive producer 50 Cent didn’t hold back his feelings about the cancellation. Known for his sharp wit and social media antics, he took to Instagram to playfully (or not so playfully) troll Lil Meech, Demetrius Flenory Jr., who plays Big Meech. 50 Cent posted a Photoshopped image of Lil Meech holding an ‘Out of Work’ sign.

He captioned the post with a classic 50 Cent-style jab: “What next season lil n–a.” This move adds another chapter to the public back-and-forth that has sometimes occurred between 50 Cent and the Flenory family, stemming from past accusations and public spats.

What’s Next for 50 Cent and Starz?

Despite ‘BMF’ coming to an end, 50 Cent’s relationship with Starz remains strong. The third and final season of his other hit series, ‘Power Book IV: Force,’ is set to premiere on November 7. Plus, a prequel, ‘Power: Origins,’ is already in development, ensuring that the ‘Power’ universe continues to expand on the network.
