It looks like Jay-Z has scored another win in the legal arena! A U.S. District Judge has just thrown out a temporary restraining order that was filed by the former guardian of a man who claims to be the rapper’s son. This decision means Jay-Z can move forward with his own legal actions against the guardian.
The Paternity Claim and Legal Maneuvers
For years, Rymir Satterthwaite has been asserting that Jay-Z is his biological father and has been seeking DNA evidence to prove it. Although Satterthwaite withdrew a separate paternity lawsuit earlier this year, he insists his fight isn’t over, hinting at behind-the-scenes developments and stating he hasn’t received a DNA test or a settlement.
The recent legal development centers on Lillie Coley, Satterthwaite’s former legal guardian. Coley had requested a temporary restraining order, arguing that Jay-Z’s legal team was retaliating against her by seeking sanctions. She claimed her advocacy for Satterthwaite stemmed from his mother’s passing.
Judge’s Ruling Favors Jay-Z
However, U.S. District Judge Sherilyn Peace Garnett saw things differently. She rejected Coley’s restraining order request, effectively allowing Jay-Z’s legal team to pursue sanctions against her. Court documents reportedly describe Coley’s actions as ‘decades-long harassment,’ and the judge’s ruling clears the path for accountability.
Jay-Z has consistently denied any familial relationship with Satterthwaite, labeling the paternity claims as baseless. This isn’t the first time the legal system has intervened; both Satterthwaite and Coley were previously barred from filing new lawsuits in New Jersey back in 2022 after multiple unsuccessful attempts to pursue the matter.
