They’ve shared the first precious photos of their daughter, Pryde JaNea Black, and the new parents are absolutely glowing.

A Bundle of Joy Arrives

Little Pryde JaNea Black made her grand entrance weighing in at a healthy 5 lbs., 11 oz., and measuring 19.5 inches long. KJ Smith described the overwhelming feeling of having her daughter earthside, telling PEOPLE, “I wake up every day and I’m just like, ‘I have a little being that is here.’ She looks like a little angel. She’s so precious.”

The couple couldn’t be happier, but the journey to Pryde’s arrival wasn’t exactly what they planned. They had envisioned an intimate home birth, surrounded by loved ones, aiming for a natural delivery.

An Unexpected Turn During Labor

After 48 hours of labor, KJ realized her carefully laid plans needed to change. Despite her optimistic outlook, the pain became intense, and a mother’s intuition kicked in. “I was in so much pain. I was in so much agony… I was like, ‘Something’s not right with my baby,’ and I just knew that,” she explained.

Trusting her gut, KJ knew she needed help. She reached out to her boss and family mentor, none other than Tyler Perry. He immediately jumped into action, ensuring Skyh was there and coordinating the next steps.

Tyler Perry to the Rescue

The situation became urgent when the baby’s heart rate began to drop. The couple was rushed to the hospital, where an emergency C-section was performed. Skyh Black expressed immense gratitude, stating he feels “forever indebted” to Tyler Perry, believing he “saved my wife and my baby’s life.”
