It seems there’s some drama brewing in the music world, as Kevin McCall is publicly calling out fellow singer Tyrese Gibson. McCall recently appeared on the “Back on Figg” podcast, where he didn’t hold back his feelings about an alleged offer of help from Tyrese during a difficult period in his life.
A ‘Hollywood Speech’ Instead of Shelter
McCall recounted a time when he was famously broke and reportedly sleeping on his grandmother’s couch. He described Tyrese, whom he considered an idol, as living in a lavish mansion. When Tyrese reached out, McCall initially saw it as a potential lifeline, expecting some form of real support.
However, what followed wasn’t the practical assistance McCall felt he needed. Instead, according to McCall, Tyrese offered what he described as a “Hollywood speech,” filled with platitudes about overcoming hurdles and sharing “gems.” McCall felt this was more like a monologue from a movie than genuine help.
The Alleged Conversation
McCall shared details of the alleged conversation, where Tyrese reportedly said, ‘God told me he don’t want me letting somebody else go through the hurdles that I’ve overcame without at least giving them the gems, if you will.’ This was followed by an offer to ‘stamp’ a message to someone on McCall’s behalf, rather than offering a place to stay.
Frustrated by the response, McCall claims he told Tyrese to ‘get the f**k off my phone with that weirdo s**t.’ He felt the offer was disingenuous and lacked the practical support he desperately needed at the time.
Aftermath and Other Offers
As of the report, Tyrese Gibson has not publicly responded to Kevin McCall’s claims. Interestingly, shortly after this interview clip went viral, rapper Young Thug reportedly offered McCall $25,000, which was allegedly owed to him by Chris Brown. It remains unclear if McCall accepted this offer.
This situation highlights the complex dynamics that can exist within the entertainment industry, where perceived support doesn’t always translate into tangible assistance when individuals are facing personal crises.
