After four years incarcerated, YFN Lucci was released on January 31, 2025, following a plea deal for a gang-related charge. Since his return, he’s dropped a new album, ALREADY LEGEND, and has been making the podcast rounds. During a recent interview on Cam Newton’s show, the conversation took a humorous turn when Newton asked what would have been heard if Lucci’s prison calls had leaked.

Instead of tales of street drama or rap industry gossip, Lucci claimed his calls were far more intimate. “Man, you might hear some moaning and sh*t… phone sex,” Lucci confessed, sending Cam and his crew into fits of laughter. He jokingly added, “They’d be like ‘this boy a freak.’”

Reenacting the Calls and Squashing Beef

Lucci even reenacted a hypothetical call, asking, “Bae, we f*cking tonight?” He then playfully told his audience, “I’m gon’ talk to y’all n****s later man. Me and my girl finna f*ck, y’all go to sleep man ya heard?’” It seems like some private moments are best kept private!

This lighthearted discussion comes after a period of significant tension between Lucci and fellow Atlanta rapper Young Thug. Their jail calls were a topic of discussion earlier this year, but thankfully, the two have since squashed their beef. They even collaborated on each other’s recent albums, a move Lucci explained was about strengthening Atlanta and reducing violence.

Focusing on the Future

Lucci emphasized the importance of moving forward positively: “Everybody lost people; we lost people. Most important sh*t, we lost our time. We had to be away from our family.” He questioned the alternative: “We gone’ keep doing that sh*t and end up back in jail or one of our homies dead or one of us dead? Or we gone’ fix this sh*t and make this sh*t look good for the A?”
