Talk about starting a trip off right! Fresh off a flight to Miami, I was absolutely thrilled to get an invitation to ‘Shoes for a Cure,’ a fantastic philanthropic event happening right in the heart of the Miami Design District. This isn’t just any fashion event; it’s a powerful weekend dedicated to raising crucial funds for breast cancer research.
A Weekend of Fashion and Fundraising
Hosted by the Fashion Footwear Charitable Foundation, ‘Shoes for a Cure’ brought together over 20 luxury brands, including heavy hitters like Tom Ford, Valentino, Ferragamo, and Sevan Biçakçi. The goal? To combine a meaningful weekend of fashion with impactful fundraising. A portion of the proceeds from all sales during the event will directly benefit the Braman Family Breast Cancer Institute at Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center, part of the University of Miami Health System.
The festivities kicked off with an incredible private dinner at the renowned Mother Wolf restaurant, a collaboration with the talented Chef Evan Funke. Let me tell you, the food was absolutely FANTASTIC! The evening was a gathering of Miami’s elite, including notable figures like Craig Robins, Desert Horse-Grant, Jimmy Graham, and Marcel Anderson, all coming together for a night of great conversation, compassion, and community.
More Than Just Shoes: A Lasting Impact
Guests enjoyed a beautifully curated dining experience, followed by a silent auction. This auction featured unique, one-of-a-kind pieces and exclusive experiences, all contributing to the vital ongoing efforts in breast cancer research and awareness. It was truly inspiring to see so much generosity in one room.
Miami is just the first stop for this year’s ‘Shoes for a Cure’ initiative. The movement will continue its journey next week in New York, featuring a five-day charity shoe sale at Chelsea Market, preceded by a special kickoff event at Saks Fifth Avenue. This initiative has a rich history, originally founded by Jerome and Jodi Fisher in 1994 as ‘Shoes on Sale’ in Central Park. Over the past three decades, it has successfully raised millions of dollars for breast cancer research.
It was an honor to attend and represent Fashion Bomb Daily at such a purposeful event where style met substance—proving once again that fashion can truly be a force for good. — Claire Sulmers
It was a true honor to be present and represent Fashion Bomb Daily at an event where style and substance so beautifully intertwined. It’s a powerful reminder that fashion, at its best, can indeed be a significant force for good in the world.
