A South Florida woman has been convicted of second-degree murder in the death of her longtime partner, Pedro Jimenez. Daisy Link, a mother of three, was found guilty by jurors who deliberated for less than two hours. This verdict marks the latest development in a case that has unfolded since 2022, revealing a complex narrative filled with domestic turmoil and unexpected twists.
The trial included emotional testimony, notably from the couple’s 11-year-old son, who reportedly told the court that he witnessed his father, Jimenez, aim a gun at his mother and pistol-whip her. Link herself testified that Jimenez was under the influence of substances and became violent, accusing her of cheating. She claimed she fired the gun only to scare him off, not to kill him, stating, ‘It’s not like I didn’t love him. That’s the father of my kids.’
A Prison Pregnancy Captures National Attention
Beyond the murder conviction, Link’s story gained significant national attention when she became pregnant while incarcerated in 2023. She later gave birth in June 2024 to a child conceived with another inmate, Joan DePaz. Both Link and DePaz have described the pregnancy as a ‘miracle,’ reportedly conceived through self-insemination.
Link’s sister, Crystal Barretto, has spoken out, describing Link as a victim of domestic violence and expressing heartbreak over the verdict. Barretto is urging the judge to consider Link’s past, the history of domestic violence in the relationship, and her children during sentencing. She emphasized that the legal fight is far from over, as Link’s legal team is preparing an appeal.
The Case Continues: Sentencing and Appeal
One juror indicated that the decision was made solely based on the evidence presented in court. With sentencing scheduled for November 21st and an appeal already in the works, this case is far from its final chapter. Social media remains keenly interested in how these proceedings will ultimately play out.
Crystal Barretto shared her hopes for the sentencing, stating, ‘I hope the judge takes into consideration all the evidence that was presented, the past domestic violence, history against Pedro and Daisy and the time she’s already served. And also taken into consideration, her children and the new baby that was just born.’
