Ty Dolla $ign is making it clear that his focus is on his music and moving forward. When asked about his current relationship with former collaborator Kanye West (Ye), the artist deftly dodged the question, signaling a desire to shift the conversation.
Navigating Post-‘Vultures’ Dynamics
The relationship between Ty Dolla $ign and Ye has been under scrutiny, especially following their joint projects under the ‘Vultures’ banner in 2024. While the first album achieved significant success, topping the Billboard 200 and spawning the hit single “Carnival,” their friendship faced challenges. Ye’s controversial antisemitic remarks led to Ty releasing a statement condemning hate speech in February 2025.
Ye later claimed betrayal from those around him, including Ty, and the two artists have been seen together less frequently since. Despite Ye reportedly showing support for Ty at his ‘Tycoon’ album listening party earlier this month, the current status of their relationship remains unclear.
Focusing on New Music
During a recent interview with Complex’s Jordan Rose, when directly asked about his relationship with Ye, Ty Dolla $ign opted for a lighthearted deflection. Quoting the popular “6, 7” emote from Skrilla’s track, he stated, “I don’t really want to talk about it, next one.” This response clearly indicates his preference to move past the topic.
The conversation then shifted to Ty’s new album. He explained that many tracks initially intended for his solo project were contributed to the ‘Vultures’ album, emphasizing that the creative direction was primarily his. When asked if it was “worth it for the cause,” Ty playfully responded, “Was it not?” acknowledging the project’s No. 1 success.
