It seems the drama isn’t just confined to the television screen anymore! Judge Greg Mathis is stepping into the real-life arena to defend his wife, Linda Reese Mathis, against deeply disrespectful remarks made by fellow TV judge, Joe Brown. Mathis is not holding back his thoughts on Brown’s comments, even suggesting something might be amiss with his colleague.
The Disrespectful Remarks and Mathis’s Response
In a recent interview, Judge Joe Brown made some shocking statements about Mathis’s wife, Linda. Brown speculated, ‘Well, I don’t know if his wife is a h*e or not. If she takes money … she might be.’ These comments clearly crossed a line for Judge Mathis, who initially offered a graceful apology if his own response to Brown’s prior remarks had caused offense.
However, Mathis quickly pivoted, expressing his unwillingness to engage in a prolonged feud. He used a powerful analogy, stating, ‘Lions don’t fight monkeys, it’s unfair,’ and in street vernacular, ‘gangsters don’t fight lames.’ He emphasized his respect for Brown as an ‘OG’ (Original Gangster) but clearly views him as a ‘lame’ in this context. Mathis believes Brown’s comments indicate a deeper issue, stating, ‘Something is wrong!’
The Feud’s Origins and Mathis’s Concerns
This public spat appears to have escalated after Mathis warned Brown not to refer to former Vice President Kamala Harris with the same derogatory term Brown allegedly used. Mathis recounted how Brown seemed to take this warning as a challenge, leading to the offensive remarks about Linda Mathis. Mathis questioned Brown’s audacity, asking, ‘Who talks like that and not have any fear?’
Mathis went further, suggesting that Brown’s age (near 80) might be a factor, alluding to potential dementia. He noted that people in that age group sometimes ‘talk crazy.’ Mathis firmly stated that Brown doesn’t know his wife and therefore has no right to judge her, accusing Brown of displaying ‘toxic masculinity.’
A Strong Defense of Marriage
Mathis also issued a direct challenge to Brown, inviting him to confront him face-to-face if he has something to say. This strong defense of his wife comes after the couple recently reconciled their marriage. Linda had initially filed for divorce in August 2024, but they called it off just three weeks later. Mathis described the reconciliation process as deeply impactful, comparing his efforts to get his wife back to how he felt when he lost his mother.
