Shaq’s Daughter Taahirah Leads $24M Youth Complex Project

Shaquille O’Neal’s eldest daughter, Taahirah O’Neal, is making a significant impact by joining the board of the Shaquille O’Neal Foundation. She’s taking the lead on a major new initiative: a $24 million youth development complex in Las Vegas, set to be operated in partnership with the Boys & Girls Club.

Spearheading a $24 Million Youth Complex

Taahirah, 29, shared her excitement on Instagram, writing, ‘These past few months, the board and I have been busy behind the scenes — planning, dreaming, and laying the groundwork for what’s to come.’ The Shaquille O’Neal Youth Development Complex, initially reported as a $16 million project, has now been estimated at $24 million. It is slated to open in 2026.

This expansive 30,000-square-foot facility aims to provide children from kindergarten through high school with access to a wide range of resources. These include basketball courts, football fields, combat sports training, mental wellness support, and educational programs. Key partners like the Las Vegas Raiders and UFC are contributing features such as a football field and a UFC gym, respectively.

A Vision for Community Impact

The complex will also house early learning centers, tech labs, and what is reportedly the first-ever Communities In Schools Alumni Center in the nation. Taahirah described visiting the future site as a ‘surreal, full-circle moment,’ emphasizing the profound impact the facility will have on thousands of children.

A graduate of Oglethorpe University with a degree in sociology and minors in politics and African American studies, Taahirah brings valuable marketing experience from her previous work with Big Chicken and Pepsi. She is now applying this expertise to guide the foundation’s most ambitious project to date. Her relocation from Houston to Atlanta facilitated closer collaboration with her father, attending TNT broadcasts, ‘The Big Podcast’ recordings, and promotional events before fully immersing herself in her foundation role.

Carrying on a Legacy

Taahirah expressed her pride in contributing to her father’s legacy while simultaneously forging her own path in community service. ‘I’m so proud to help carry my father’s legacy forward while also building my own path in service,’ she shared on Instagram. ‘Let’s build.’
