Kim Kardashian is opening up about the complexities of dating in the public eye, particularly when an ex-husband is involved in a very public feud. In a candid conversation on the “Call Her Daddy” podcast, the SKIMS founder revealed how Kanye West’s attacks on her ex-boyfriend Pete Davidson deeply affected her and influenced her approach to future relationships.
The Impact of Public Feuds on Dating
When host Alex Cooper asked if dating publicly had impacted her relationships, Kardashian didn’t hold back. “There [have] been situations where I’ll get maybe close to someone, then it’s like, ‘Wait, wait, wait, wait, I don’t really want to deal with your ex. And I don’t want to deal [with] if he’s gonna say something.’” She admitted this has been “a little frustrating,” but she hopes her future partners won’t be deterred by such external pressures.
Kardashian and Davidson dated for roughly nine months, making several high-profile appearances together, including the 2022 Met Gala. She acknowledged that potential partners might hesitate due to the intense scrutiny and drama, stating, “But it is a big thing, and I get it. It’s not an easy thing. And I get that.”
Emotional Toll of Kanye’s ‘Eazy’ Video
The conversation turned particularly emotional when Cooper brought up Kanye West’s 2022 music video for “Eazy.” The controversial visual depicted a claymation figure resembling Pete Davidson being kidnapped and buried alive. Kardashian expressed deep sadness over the incident.
“That made me feel really sad. That really wasn’t fair for him,” Kardashian said, her voice filled with emotion. “And I felt so sad and sorry for him, and he was such a great man [who] was like, ‘I got this, don’t worry, it’s all good.’ Or at least acted that way.”
Kardashian explained that witnessing the impact of such attacks made her more guarded in her subsequent relationships. “It just, it must suck to be put in that position. So it’s had me put up this guard where I don’t want to put anyone in that position,” she shared. While she acknowledges the need for self-protection, she also recognizes that she “can’t live my life like that either.”
