Fans eagerly awaiting A$AP Rocky’s next album, “Don’t Be Dumb,” might need to adjust their expectations for a release date announcement. In a recent interview with Numéro Magazine, Rocky declared he’s finished sharing specific dates for the project, which has been years in the making. He intends to let the music speak for itself, promising a surprise drop.
A New Approach to Album Releases
“To be honest, I don’t want to talk about release dates anymore,” Rocky stated. “I’d rather let the music speak for itself. One day, you’ll wake up and see what’s coming up. I was a bit foolish giving dates last time… Today, I want to make it clear. You’ll just have to wait and enjoy the record when it’ll come out.”
This shift in strategy comes after the “Don’t Be Dumb” project was initially slated for an August 2024 release but was indefinitely delayed just days prior. Rocky has already teased several singles from the album, including “Highjack,” “Tailor Swif,” “Ruby Rosary,” and “Pray4DaGang,” keeping fans engaged despite the extended wait.
Years in the Making, New Challenges
Back in March, Rocky confirmed to GQ that the album was in the mixing and mastering stages. He acknowledged the public’s anticipation, saying, “People are tired of hearing about updates about the album. They’re just ready to get this sh*t, you know what I’m saying?” He also mentioned challenging himself with a “different tactic, degree, or finesse” for this project.
Adding another layer to the extended wait, Rocky and Rihanna welcomed their third child together last month. This personal milestone, coupled with his desire for a surprise release, suggests fans may indeed have to wait a bit longer to experience “Don’t Be Dumb” in its entirety. The album remains one of the most anticipated hip-hop releases, with Rocky’s new approach promising an exciting unveiling when the time is right.
