From Social Media Fame to a Life-Changing Gift

Humphries earned a full-ride scholarship to the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown thanks to her impressive wrestling skills. However, she faced a common challenge for many young students: not having a car to get to campus. After gaining a significant following on social media for her athletic prowess, Humphries received an unexpected Instagram direct message that would change everything.

The message came from Shaquille O’Neal himself. “He DM’ed me on Instagram. It was a casual DM, and I was like, ‘Uh, is this real?’“ Humphries told CBS News, recalling her initial disbelief. O’Neal, known for his generosity, reached out to offer support and, upon learning about her transportation situation, took swift action.

Before surprising Humphries, O’Neal made sure to get the approval of her parents. “He FaceTimed my parents,” Humphries recalled. “She said, ‘Shaq’s going to call you.
