Tyler The Creator’s “Cherry Bomb” Hits Top 10 Again

Ten years after its initial release, Tyler The Creator’s “Cherry Bomb” is back in the spotlight, re-entering the Billboard 200 chart’s Top 10. This resurgence is thanks to a special 10th-anniversary reissue that has clearly resonated with his dedicated fanbase.

Anniversary Reissue Drives Sales Surge

The reissue, released in multiple vinyl variants, CDs, and deluxe boxed sets complete with branded clothing, has significantly boosted the album’s sales. “Cherry Bomb” earned 52,000 equivalent album units this week, a massive jump from the “negligible sum” it was selling previously. For context, Billboard typically uses “negligible sum” for albums selling around or less than 500 copies weekly.

Impressively, 51,000 of those units were pure physical sales, highlighting the power of tangible releases for dedicated fans. Back in 2015, “Cherry Bomb” debuted at number four on the Billboard 200 with 51,000 first-week sales, a testament to Tyler’s enduring popularity.

A Testament to Fan Dedication

Re-entering the top 10 a decade later is no small feat and speaks volumes about Tyler The Creator’s loyal fanbase. Even albums released with little notice, like “DON’T TAP THE GLASS,” have seen strong first-week sales, moving nearly 200,000 copies. This demonstrates the deep connection Tyler has cultivated with his audience over the years.

While “Cherry Bomb” is enjoying this resurgence, fans attending Tyler’s massive 96-show Chromakopia Tour might be disappointed to know he hasn’t incorporated any of its songs into the setlist. With only nine shows remaining, including the final date in the Philippines on September 21st, it’s unclear if any “Cherry Bomb” tracks will make a surprise appearance.
