Between 2023 and 2024, the 81-year-old music legend, whose real name is Gloria Fowles, reportedly donated nearly $22,000 to various MAGA and conservative political campaigns. This revelation has sparked considerable discussion, especially given the widespread embrace of “I Will Survive” within the LGBTQ+ community.

According to a report by MeidasTouch, Gaynor’s political contributions include significant amounts to organizations like the National Republican Senatorial Committee and campaigns of prominent Republican figures such as House Speaker Mike Johnson, former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy, U.S. Senators Josh Hawley and Ted Cruz, and Marco Rubio. She also contributed to the New Journey PAC, which supports MAGA candidates targeting Black voters.

Shifting Political Landscape

Interestingly, Gaynor’s political activity appears to have ramped up significantly in recent years. While records show a small donation to Ben Carson in 2016, her political giving didn’t resume until 2023. This shift comes despite her past statements, like one made at the Library of Congress in 2017, where she described herself as “really not a political person” but noted that “a lot needs to change.”

While Gaynor has not directly donated to Donald Trump’s campaigns, her contributions to other Trump-aligned candidates, including Nikki Haley and Vivek Ramaswamy during the 2024 election cycle, further highlight her political leanings.
