Snoop Dogg Named LA Community Chairman for 2026 World Cup

Los Angeles is gearing up for the biggest sporting event on the planet, and they’ve tapped a true hometown legend to help lead the charge. Hip-hop icon Snoop Dogg has been officially named the Los Angeles Community Chairman for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, serving as a key ambassador for the city’s community engagement and legacy initiatives.

LA’s Global Ambassador for Soccer

The Los Angeles Sports & Entertainment Commission (LASEC) announced the appointment on August 12th, highlighting Snoop Dogg’s deep connection to the city and his passion for uniting people. In his new role, the Long Beach legend will participate in major events designed to encourage fans worldwide to kick off their World Cup journey in Los Angeles. “It’s an honor to step up as the Community Chairman for the City of Angels as we get ready for the biggest game on the planet,” Snoop Dogg stated. “We’re going to bring the world together. West Coast style –- unity, respect, and a whole lotta love for the beautiful game. LA, let’s make history in 2026!”

This ambassadorial role perfectly aligns with Snoop’s 30-plus-year career, during which he has consistently represented and uplifted his beloved city. As the official ambassador, he will work to “engage the local community to help deliver a legacy that will positively impact the Los Angeles region well beyond the final match,” according to LASEC.

A Legacy of Community and Sports

FIFA World Cup 2026 will feature eight matches at SoFi Stadium, including the U.S. Men’s National Team’s opening game, with 39 days of fan engagement planned across the region. Snoop Dogg’s involvement is particularly fitting, given his extensive work in local youth athletics, where he effectively blends entertainment and sports to foster global unity among fans.

Kathryn Schloessman, president & CEO of LASEC and CEO of the Los Angeles World Cup 2026 Host Committee, emphasized Snoop’s suitability for the role. “Snoop Dogg is more than a global icon. He embodies all that is Los Angeles, and his deep roots in the community and passion for uplifting the next generation make him the perfect ambassador as we prepare to welcome the world in 2026,” she said. “We’re honored to welcome him as our Community Chairman, supporting this major event that is going to deliver significant impact to our region and be a major source of civic pride for Angelenos.”
