Get ready for another banger from Skepta and Fred again..! The dynamic duo has reunited, dropping a brand new single titled “Back 2 Back.” This track follows their recent collaborations, including remixes of Fred again.. and PlaqueBoyMax’s “Victory Lap,” and hints at the exciting potential for more music from these two talented artists.
A Powerful Collaboration
“Back 2 Back” lives up to its name, delivering a hard-hitting sound with rattling bass and a powerful performance from Skepta. The track highlights the strong producer-rapper chemistry between the two, leaving fans hoping for a full project backed by Fred again..’s signature production. It’s a sound that perfectly complements Skepta’s sharp lyricism.
This release comes after a notable back-and-forth between Skepta and rapper Joyner Lucas. Skepta’s comments about UK rappers potentially outshining US MCs in a battle, and Drake’s praise for UK talent, sparked a lyrical exchange. While the diss tracks generated buzz, they didn’t necessarily shift fan opinions significantly.
Anticipation for New Skepta Music
Fans have been eagerly awaiting new music from Skepta, especially since he seemingly kicked off the rollout for his next album, “Knife & Fork,” in 2024. This LP would mark his first full project in over five years, and the release of “Back 2 Back” only fuels that anticipation. Hopefully, we’ll be getting more Skepta projects in the near future!
The track itself features some standout lyrics, with Skepta confidently asserting his lyrical prowess: “One time I had to murk eight MC’s / Bettin’ me money, they won’t test me again.” It’s clear he’s ready to make a strong statement with his latest musical offerings.
