The guest list was a who’s who of Black Hollywood and beyond. Close friends of The Carters mingled with the night’s big winners, many of whom arrived clutching their newly acquired Oscars. Among the notable attendees were Michael B. Jordan and Ryan Coogler, who were reportedly among the night’s most-awarded stars. Other stars spotted included Austin Butler, Timothée Chalamet, Kylie Jenner, Megan Fox, Sofía Vergara, Vin Diesel, Kris Jenner, Corey Gamble, Kim Kardashian, Kendall Jenner, Justin and Hailey Bieber, and Jacob Elordi.

  • Vin Diesel’s Sexual Battery Lawsuit Tossed

Big news in the legal world for action star Vin Diesel! A judge in Los Angeles has dismissed a sexual battery lawsuit that was filed against him by a former assistant. The lawsuit stemmed from allegations of an assault that reportedly occurred over a decade ago.

    The Lawsuit’s Claims

The former assistant, Asta Jonasson, claimed that Vin Diesel assaulted her in a hotel room back in 2010 while she was briefly working with him during the filming of “Fast Five” in Atlanta. Her lawsuit, which was filed in December 2023, included ten separate claims. It also named Diesel’s production company, One Race Films, along with its president and his sister, Samantha Vincent, as defendants.

Jonasson alleged that not only did the assault occur, but she also faced retaliation afterward. These serious accusations put Diesel and his company in a difficult legal position.

    Judge’s Ruling and Reasoning

However, the case took a significant turn when Judge Daniel M. Crowley made his decision. The judge dismissed the lawsuit primarily on jurisdictional grounds. He explained that the alleged incident took place in Georgia, making California an improper venue to hear the case.

Judge Crowley further elaborated that Jonasson’s legal arguments were inconsistent with California state law, concluding that none of her claims could be pursued under the state’s statutes. This ruling effectively ends the case in California.

    Reactions to the Dismissal

Vin Diesel’s attorney, Bryan J. Freedman, expressed his client’s gratitude, calling the lawsuit “baseless” and stating that Diesel is relieved the court has ended the matter. On the other hand, Jonasson’s attorney argued that the ruling was purely technical and did not address the truthfulness of her allegations. They are reportedly considering their next legal steps.

This dismissal represents a significant legal victory for Vin Diesel, bringing a close to this particular chapter of the legal battle. It highlights the complexities of jurisdiction in legal proceedings, especially when incidents occur across state lines.
