The glamorous world of WAGS (Wives and Girlfriends of Athletes) is often associated with luxury and custom fashion. However, a recent investigation by The Shade Room has uncovered a darker side, revealing allegations of a designer hustle targeting these women, leaving them out of pocket and without the promised custom apparel.
Hundreds of Women Allegedly Scammed
According to TSR Investigates host Justin Carter, “hundreds and hundreds” of women have fallen victim to WAGS Unlimited, a designer allegedly run by an individual named Kayla. Customers like Diana Kannan reported paying deposits for custom items, such as bomber jackets, sweatpants, tank tops, and dresses, intended for events like their fiancĂ©’s basketball games. Kannan shared her experience on TikTok after receiving numerous warnings from other users about WAGS Unlimited.
When Kannan didn’t receive photos of her custom order, Kayla reportedly offered a refund, which Kannan claims she only received after her TikTok video went viral. Kimora Gilyard shared a similar story, recounting how the letters on her custom jacket were misplaced, with the “S” appearing on the shoulder. Kayla allegedly blamed the postal service for the damage.
The Investigation Uncovers More Claims
Carter also spoke with other alleged victims, including Alexis, who reported being promised a refund by Kayla that never materialized. The investigation delves into these refund claims, exploring how such refunds can be faked and providing insights into the conversation Carter had with Kayla herself regarding the scamming allegations.
The report highlights the vulnerability of these consumers, who are often eager to showcase their support for their partners through unique, custom-designed apparel. The alleged failure of WAGS Unlimited to deliver on promises, coupled with issues like incorrect lettering on garments and unfulfilled refunds, has left many feeling deceived and out of their money.
Seeking Justice and Reporting Fraud
The Shade Room’s investigation aims to shed light on these alleged fraudulent practices and provide information for anyone who may have also been affected. Carter shares details on how potential victims can report the alleged fraud, emphasizing the importance of bringing such schemes to light. The episode also touches upon HOA disputes, showing that consumer protection issues can arise in various aspects of daily life.
